ÖKOLOGIE.ORG is a San Francisco-based non-profit operating at the intersection of Public Health Education and Environmental Research.

Our social and charitable mission is to democratize public health education and empower individuals in underprivileged communities to overcome the negative health effects often associated with ageism, environmental racism, and discrimination based on sexual orientation.

We strive to proactively prevent disease and illness by addressing inequities in health outcomes caused by social, environmental, and economic factors. We understand that a person's education, race, income, location, and care access can significantly affect health outcomes/life expectancy. Therefore, we aim to bridge this gap by providing education and resources to underserved communities.

We also recognize the importance of instilling healthy habits within the community. Our public health initiatives for schools, nonprofits, and businesses focus on promoting a healthy diet, positive mental health, and overall wellness. By teaching these best practices, we hope to create a future generation of individuals who make informed decisions about their health.

By applying public health theory on a local, personalized level, we can cater services to a specific demographic and bring a sense of wellness to communities without proper access to care. Our goal is to empower individuals and communities to take control of their health and well-being. By working together, we can positively impact public health and create a more equitable society for all.

What is a 501(c)Nonprofit

501(c) nonprofits are tax-exempt charitable organizations. They do not have owners or distribute profits. Examples include charities, schools, churches, etc.

There are different types of 501(c) nonprofits based on their mission:

- 501(c)(3) - Religious, charitable, scientific, literary, educational organizations

- 501(c)(4) - Civic leagues, social welfare organizations

- 501(c)(6) - Business leagues, chambers of commerce

501(c) status provides several key benefits:

- Tax exemption on revenue related to their mission

- Ability to accept tax-deductible donations

- Eligibility for foundation/government grants

- No liability for company debts beyond their assets

A social enterprise can incorporate a 501(c) to fund its social mission. All revenues must be reinvested into operations rather than distributed to owners.
